A Problem You Encountered And How You Solved Or Managed It
It is unquestionably illegal to abuse animals as animals have their animal rights. Abusing animals is not only cruel, but also reflects badly on the abuser. I, as an animal lover, despise those cruel and evil people who abuse animals by kicking or hitting them, or even torturing them. It hurts my heart to see these inhumane people abusing the poor and helpless animals who can do nothing at all. However, it is extremely difficult to stop such incorrigible acts as some people think that it is 'cool' to abuse animals. I, on the other hand, think that they are mentally challenged such that they start abusing the weak animals.

It was yet another mundane day at school. I had just finished my lessons and was heading home after filling my stomach with a delicious lunch at school. I walked back home through that familiar alley which was usually deserted as no one would walk there. I had just entered the alley and to my surprise, there was a boy around my age standing at a dark corner of the bending point of the alley. At first, I did not think much of the boy as he stood there silently. However, the more I looked at him, the more I thought that he looked extremely suspicious. I walked pass him slowly, looking at where and what he was staring at out of curiosity. All I could see was a grayish lump lying in the shadows. Taking a closer look, I realised what the 'grayish lump' was. I was shocked immediately by what I saw. A gray cat was lying there with one of its legs smashed by a hammer and crimson blood oozing out of its broken leg. Its fur was dropping and lines of blood could be seen on its body, appearing to be whip marks. It was a gruesome sight to see and I could even hear the cat moaning as if it was calling out for help. I felt sad for the cat and winced once I saw its leg.

Suddenly, the boy turned around. He had noticed my presence. This was when I noticed his bloodshot eyes and a hammer and whip in either of his hands. I felt frightened and intimidated. His eyes were staring straight into mine and they looked scary and fierce. I thought that he could have killed me just by staring at me in that manner. He shouted at me,"What are you looking at!" I could not utter a sound and stood rooted to the ground as if my feet were nailed to the cold, hard floor. Mere words could not express the way he instilled fear into me. He started walking towards me with the hammer and I immediately sensed the danger I was in, shooting off like a rocket towards the other end of the alley.

The boy did not chase me. In short, he did not even bother to look back at where I had ran to and merely turned back to the already dying cat. It hurt my heart to see his hammering actions towards the cat. Each hammer caused an acute pain in my heart and seeing the whole process of hammering the cat caused overwhelming pain. I could not take it anymore. I whipped out my handphone and punched it the numbers to call the police. I told the police about the abuser and my location. It seemed like eternity while I waited for the police to arrive. I inched closer to the boy and the cat, making sure that I was in a good position with the right distance away from them in case he was going to deliver the final blow to kill the cat.

Just as I expected, he aimed the hammer at the cat's head after torturing it further. It was a horrific sight, with all the blood and broken bones. I could not bear to listen to the cat's painful moaning and quickly covered my ears. However,
I could not just stand by and watch. I watched closely as he aimed for the cat's head. Unknowingly and almost automatically, I lunged myself forward, pushing the boy away from the cat. He fell on his back and looked at me, staring straight into my eyes once more. However, my anger assisted me and I did not feel intimidated or scared this time. He raised his hammer and was just about to run towards me to hit me when the police arrived, taking him into custody and hurriedly sending the cat to the nearest vet or hospital. I heaved a sigh of relieve. It was finally over. The gruesome mess left by the abusing of the cat was cleaned up and the police praised me for being smart and stopping the boy from killing the cat. It was an unforgettable experience and I would never be able to forget the horrific sight of the cat I saw.

I hope that other people will stop doing such inhumane and cruel acts as abusing animals is not the right thing to do. I also hope that animal abusers will try to put themselves in the shoes of the animal and think how painful it would be if they were to get abused by someone bigger than them. I will never ever abuse an animal in my entire life and I hope that I am able to stop others from doing so too. It is really very saddening to hear that yet another cat or dog has been abused to death and I think that we humans should not do so as we should cherish animals as they too have a life and a mind of their own.

Something Unusual That Happened That Day
Dreams cannot be predetermined or controlled by us humans. Instead, dreams are just random incidents that pop up in our minds when we sleep. There are many types of dreams, varying from happy dreams to sad dreams and even frightening dreams which cause you to wake up in the middle on the night due to fear. These dreams that scare your wits out are called nightmares. Many people have nightmares very often and thus are not afraid of having nightmares as they are used to it. On the contrary, I seldom have nightmares and I cannot even remember the previous time I had a nightmare as it was an extremely long time ago.

The day started out as usual, with me going to school to have my education. After all the usual daily events took place(school, lunch, dinner, etc), I went to bed. I tossed and turned on my bed but could not fall asleep as the weather was very hot that particular night. Unknowingly, I had already drifted off to sleep and entered the 'dream world'. I did not realise that I had fallen asleep initially as I was half-awake and half-asleep.

In my dream, or nightmare, I was lying on my bed just as I was before I fell asleep and a transparent 'boy' that was white in colour suddenly appeared next to me. I was curious and asked him who he was. However, I felt as if my throat was as dry as the desert and I could not utter a word or sound. I tried moving away from him but unfortunately it seemed as though he was using his 'supernatural powers' to keep me from moving a muscle. I looked up to his pale white face and felt scared upon doing so and therefore closed my eyes. After a while, the 'boy' was gone and my father came to sit on my bed(which he usually does not do when I'm not in the dream world) and I tried telling him about the incident. I said,"Dad, I think I just saw a ghost. He was..." I was just about to tell him about the 'boy' when the 'boy' reappeared and stopped me from talking and moving. My dad was beside me and looking into my eyes frantically, thinking that I was dead as I did not move an inch.

Right at this moment, I woke up and realised that it was just a nightmare. However, I was covered in sweat and I lay on my bed motionless due to shock. I lay there, not moving at all, with my mind racing to absorb what I had just dreamt of. Additionally, there was a funeral being held opposite my HDB block and my imagination ran wild, thinking that it was the work of the supernatural. Lucky for me, the kitchen lights were still switched on as my father and sister were in the kitchen watching the television and having a cup of warm Milo. I felt relieved once I saw the light and started walking to the kitchen. I was shocked as the nightmare seemed so realistic and furthermore I did not have a nightmare in ages, therefore the shock was overwhelming. I checked my clock and to my astonishment, it was 1 in the morning! What a bad timing to have a nightmare! I would surely be too tired to be attentive in class the next day.

I went over to the kitchen to tell the nightmare to my sister and father and felt relieved that what I dreamt of did not come true. After telling my troubles to my sister and father, I felt as if I had let go of an enormous burden. However, my sister and father would always joke around, and this time my sister tried scaring me further by asking me if it REALLY was just a nightmare, and not something that happened in the real world. I stared at her glaringly, scolding her for injecting more fear into my heart. My father just laughed at a corner and suggested that maybe the funeral opposite our HDB block was held for a little boy. I felt even more afraid and tried telling myself that that was not possible and that there are no such things as ghosts.

I concluded that talking to my father and sister would merely do more harm and thus went back to sleep as I could not talk to my mother, who was already sound asleep. I tried coaxing myself to sleep, and even sang some lullabies! I was surprised that I would have a nightmare after such a long period of not having nightmares. I even thought that I would not have any nightmares in my life forever! I now realise how naive I was to even think of that. However, I believe that after an ordeal, there will be a 'reward' for overcoming it. Lucky for me, I did not have yet another nightmare after I fell asleep again. Instead, I had a great dream of me conquering the whole world and slept soundly that night or, should I say, morning. I hope that I will not have any more nightmares as I will definitely get mentally shocked for a long period of time.

A Special Moment You Enjoyed With Your Family
Today is the 7th of June, which is my birthday! "Lucky me," I thought to myself as I remembered that my birthday was during the June school holidays. I got up from my bed and went to brush my teeth and have a shower. To my astonishment, my parents and sister was already awake and they wished me a Happy Birthday.
as the jokes that my father told were always hilarious and caused us to laugh alot. It was an enjoyable and unforgettable day to remember and it was the best day of my life ever. I felt happy to have such a loving family and I really learned to treasure my loved ones more as we will never know what might happen tomorrow. I really hope that I have more opportunities like these so that I am able to spend more time with my family and so that I can be able to form closer bonds with them.

After I prepared myself for a fun day with my family(brush teeth, shower, etc), I asked my parents if we were going out today. They told me that our relatives were coming to our house for lunch and for dinner the four of us would go to East Coast to have seafood. I was surprised that they had planned all this without my knowledge but at the same time, I was anxious to eat seafood as I loved eating seafood, especially the delicious and spicy chili crab. I switched on my computer immediately, to see how many of my friends wished me a Happy Birthday. However, there were only two friends who wished me a Happy Birthday. I felt disappointed upon seeing this and turned to my handphone. Then, I noticed that my handphone was flooded with messages. I realised that my friends wished me a Happy Birthday by sending handphone messages, and not by the computer! I smiled to myself, thinking what a great day today would be.

My parents and sister came into my room and I was elated when I received red packets from my parents and a present from my sister. My sister was literally begging me to open her present, but I refused to and told her that I would open it only at the end of the day. After what seemed like eternity, my relatives arrived and they all wished me a Happy Birthday while giving me a birthday present. It was by far the happiest day of my life. The best 13th birthday I ever had in my life, although it was the ONLY 13th birthday I would have. After playing and entertaining my relatives and eating a lunch of pizza delivered from Pizza Hut, it was time for them to go home. I bid them goodbye and they wished me a Happy Birthday again before heading home.
Then, I had to shower AGAIN because I was all sweaty after playing with my cousins. It was fun to have a family gathering over my birthday and I felt very privileged to have such great relatives who were close to me and my family. After yet another comfortable shower, I played computer games until it was dinner time. Time really flies very quickly when you are having fun. It seemed like I had only played the computer games for an hour but in actual fact I had played it for three full hours!

Finally, it was dinner time. Time to enjoy the delicious seafood. Regarding the ordering of dishes, I left that to my parents as I would take a long time to choose from the ranging variety of food. Looking at the table next to us and the delicious food they were eating, my mouth began to water and I could not wait any longer! After waiting for a short period of time, our food was served and we had a scrumptious dinner. The seafood at the 'No Signboard Restaurant' at East Coast was so fresh as though it was just fished out of the sea and cooked on the spot. The bamboo clams were as delicious as the previous time we had eaten at the restaurant and the chili crab was as juicy and heavenly as it has always been. The marvelous taste of the chili crab cannot be described with mere words and one would have to eat it to understand how delicious it is. I felt as if I on top of the World as I ate the luscious chili crab as the meat was tender and juicy. Additionally, there was the golden-crusted bun to dip in the curry sauce of the chili crab. The bun reminded me of my childhood, where I would always eat a bun for breakfast as the golden-crusted buns my mother cooked were delicious.

After dinner, my parents bought a birthday cake from a nearby cake shop and they sang me a birthday song while made a wish and blew out the candles. The cake was yet another of my favourite, black-forest cake! Today was the best day of my life ever. While we ate the birthday cake, my father started sharing jokes with my sister and I and we all laughed till our stomachs hurts and our eyes teared

A Moment Spent Alone Doing Something You Enjoyed
I enjoy being alone as it gives me the time to reflect on what has happened in the past few days and also gives me the mood to think of certain things such as a difficult maths problem or obstacles in my daily life.

There are many moments that I spend alone doing something I enjoy. One of the many is practicing my Chinese Orchestra instrument, the suona(唢呐). The suona is a Chinese instrument that, in the past, is used for grand occasions, such as a wedding or a grand funeral. However, as the years go by, the suona is seen lesser and lesser as people choose not to use the suona in these grand occasions as it makes a high-pitched and sharp, loud noise.

In modern times nowadays, many people mistaken the suona as a funeral instrument as it is seen mostly when there is a chinese funeral being held and as it is the loudest instrument among the instruments being played for the deceased, the suona is recognized as the most common funeral instrument. However, the suona is not a funeral instrument. The suona is an instrument played for grand occasions and I hope that many people will not see it as an omnious funeral instrument.

Blowing the suona is my passion as I find it interesting and enjoy listening to the beautiful melodies I am able to play with my instrument. I also like the fact that the suona stands out among all the Chinese Orchestra instruments as it is high-pitched and can be easily heard over the whole Orchestra by recognizing the vivid sound it makes.

During most of the school Chinese Orchestra practices, I am able to sit alone in a corner or with my seniors and indulge myself in our melodious music. Occasionally, we will start playing the same song together and we will play in harmony, causing an even louder but more orderly noise. During our thirty-minute break, I usually stay in the classroom while my seniors go to the school canteen to buy food as I will then be able to hear what I am playing more clearly. During this thirty minutes, I enjoy playing all kinds of songs, from sad music pieces to lively and happy ones. I really enjoy playing the suona and I have been playing it since Primary five. At certain times, depending on my mood, I will bring my instrument home to practice more and also to relieve stress from school life. This really helps as I am able to put away my books and do something else for a change and I am also able to practice more as practice makes perfect.

No words can express my fondness for this instrument and I hope that I am able to persuade my parents to buy a suona for me as I am currently using the school's property. I also hope that people will stop showing a negative attitude towards the suona and stop thinking that it is a funeral instrument as this is not true. I hope that they will learn to appreciate this unique instrument and not loathe it.

Another activity I enjoy doing alone is taking a long walk at night or early in the morning in a quiet and peaceful place such as the beach. I enjoy doing this as this allows me to take some time off and think of the many various things that has happened during the past few days. This helps me to relax and I like to walk slowly and enjoy the breeze blowing into my face and the sound of Mother Nature, such as the waves crashing onto the coast. Additionally, taking a walk in a peaceful place helps me to 'escape' from the modern world, which is full of technology, noise pollution and air pollution, for a short period of time. This also helps me to relieve my mind, take my mind off school life and get away from the constant nagging of my parents. On certain rare occasions, I might be lucky enough to see a sunset over the sea and that would really make my day as it will be such an unforgettable and beautiful sight to behold.

Overall, playing the suona and taking a long, peaceful walk down the beach really helps me to relieve my stress and at the same time, gives me joy as I really enjoy doing these activities. I hope that everyone has something that they enjoy doing alone as life would be completely meaningless if one did not have something that he or she enjoys doing in life.

Something That Took Place In School.
Every now and then, unexpected accidents occur. There are many types of accidents, ranging from getting a paper cut to getting killed in a car accident. These accidents also can be classified in minor or fatal accidents. Careless people are prone to minor accidents like tripping on one's own shoelace, but that does not mean that careful people are not prone to accidents. Accidents can happen anywhere and anytime, at any part of the world. This accident took place today, on my unlucky classmate, Carl. Carl is a very careful and diligent boy who loves playing soccer.

Mundane school life was as usual, having lessons in the morning and homework assigned by our teachers. After English period, it was recess. When the recess bell rang, we thanked our teacher before going off for our recess. Some students who do not go down to eat would stay in the class to chat with each other or play games. Carl , who sat in front of me, quickly changed into his P.E. attire and so did some other of my classmates. While I was eating my bread from my lunchbox, Carl quickly drank his packet of Milo brought from home in a few gulps and ran off with my other classmates to the soccer field to play soccer. I ate my bread slowly, enjoying the delicious Nutella spread while my best friends, John and Kenny, talked to each other about the assignment given by our English teacher.

After I finished my bread, I asked John and Kenny if they would like to watch our classmates playing soccer. They agreed and all three of us went down to the soccer field to watch our classmates playing soccer. Upon reaching the field, I immediately saw my classmates and as usual, the goalkeepers were Carl and Ken as they were the best goalkeepers in our class. The soccer match was very exciting as the ball could not get past both sides' defense. The ball was passed from player to player, and was finally kicked out of the playing area by Carl's teammate. We watched intently as Ben from Ken's team kicked the ball so hard that it almost went into the goal if not for Carl's magnificent block. The ball rebounded from Carl's hand and the nearest opposing team member, Wei Ming, kicked the ball with all his might towards the goalpost which was protected by Carl.

Unfortunately, Carl was too far away from the position where the ball was. Carl made a desperate lunge towards the ball but only his fingers were able to touch the ball.

It was a goal.

The other team cheered loudly for Wei Ming while the spectators from our class clapped for him. Only a few of us, including me and our class Monitor, noticed that Carl was sitting on the floor and looked like he was in pain. I pointed towards Carl, showing John and Kenny that apparently he was injured. Our class monitor, Ahmad, John, Kenny, a few of our classmates and I made our way to Carl and asked if he was alright. Big drops of tears emerged from Carl's eyes and Beads of sweat formed on his forehead. By now, almost the whole class realised that Carl was injures. However, he was obviously in pain and could only mutter a few words,"Finger... Pain...". Ahmad immediately helped Carl up and around five of us brought him to the sick bay at the School General Office.

When I took a closer look at Carl's finger, I realised that it was broken! It was bent to the wrong way and was purplish-black due to the injury. I was shocked to see his finger so distorted and realised that the pain must have been unbearable. Ahmad explained to our form teacher what had happened and our form teacher immediately called Carl's parents.

After what seemed like eternity, Carl's parents  arrived and quickly fetched him to the hospital. After Carl was gone, our form teacher praised us for being so kind and bringing Carl to the General Office. Sadly, the school bell rang not long after that and we had to go back to class to have more lessons. However, our form teacher came to our class as it was her lesson at that time and she praised the class for having such a strong class spirit. Unfortunately, our form teacher banned us from playing soccer for a week as she did not want to see more accidents occurring.

It was a tiring day in school and I will never forget what happened today. I hope that Carl will be able to recover soon so that he can use his finger again. I also hope that this will not become a permanent injury as it would be very inconvenient if he loses the ability to use a finger. I hope that Carl will be able to join us in studying again so that he will not waste precious time on recovering and so that he is able to learn more with the class.

To all of my blog readers, please be careful when playing sports as accidents might happen.

I will be back to write more on my blog. For now, goodbye!

Based on a real incident in school that took place a few days ago.(Names are all changed.)
